Some showed up and camped out at the Garden State Plaza as early as 6 o'clock last night for today's 8 a.m. opening to get their hands on a technological development launched in 12 countries this morning.

Ronny Garcia and three friends were still four stores away at 10 o'clock after arriving a half-hour after midnight to collect a rose-gold iPhone 6S, which Apple Insider says made up more than 40 % of pre-orders.

“It’s amazing,” said the 23-year old New York City resident, eager to try out the phone’s new 3D Touch, 12-megapixel, rear-facing camera, as well as the "Live Photos" function that can add animations to still images.

Analysts expect 12-13 million of the new phones will sell this first weekend. That's up from more than 10 million last year, when the launch of the hugely successful iPhone 6 was delayed in China, the world's biggest smartphone market, according to CNBC.

Priscilla Nievas of Kearny had a 9:30 a.m. appointment and was still waiting in the store at 10:15 a.m. But she didn't mind.

“I got tired of my Android,” said Nievas, who was was happily on her way by 11. “I want to go more for the sleek, professional look for the fall.”
