The first H Mart opened in 1982, in Queens -- and the chain now has over 50 stores, in 12 states. Current New Jersey stores are in Cherry Hill, Edison, Englewood, Leonia, Little Ferry, Ridgefield and two in Fort Lee.

The planned store will be 25,000-square-feet of supermarket and food court, according to The Record.

"I know how many people who could be our customers live in the more northern parts of Jersey,” said Stacey Kwon, an H Mart president, The Record reported. Kwon lives in Paramus, as well.
