Peruvian Chef Makes Paramus Proud

PARAMUS, N.J. — Pauza tilapia with jerk-butter asparagus and calabaza mash was the dish that earned Chef Alan Garcia of Bahama Breeze Paramus the champion of a recent cook-off.

Garcia and nine other professionals gathered at Bahama Breeze in King of Prussia where  more than 50 guests sampled and helped score different dishes.

The winner was chosen by a panel of local judges, including special guest Bahama Breeze Executive Corporate Chef Peter Olsacher.

The chef was raised in Peru and has been cooking for 12 years. He has been with Bahama Breeze for six years.

Garcia walked away with the Top Chef belt  and a $1,000 cash prize.
