Using applied kinesiology — muscle-strength testing — DeLorenzo is able to identify problems in the body almost immediately, he said.
"I tell my patients that if it is not broken or bleeding, come on in," said DeLorenzo, of Applied Kinesiology Center of New Jersey. "I am going to be the only doctor you need for the next 10 to 15 years."
The idea is that certain muscles are linked to particular organs and glands. Muscle weakness can be indicative of more internal problems.
DeLorenzo saw results firsthand: he was exposed to chiropractic's through his younger days as a bodybuilder.
"I was always getting injured and I would go to the chiropractor and he would give me a muscle test and a nutrient and it always worked," said DeLorenzo, 35. "I thought it was magic."
Through his array of services, DeLorenzo said he can treat complicated ailments including internal issues like seizures, hypersensitivity, autoimmune diseases, and chronic problems.
He went on to study applied kinesiology at Logan College of Chiropractic in Missouri when he was 24, and ended up studying 2,000 hours over the course of seven years.
DeLorenzo's practice has become more popular throughout the years.
"When we first started in 2013 I was seeing about 15 people a week," DeLorenzo said. "Now I am seeing over 100 people a week."
DeLorenzo's practice includes an acupuncturist, massage therapist, energy healer and spiritual advisor. He plans on adding more unique services to help his practice grow, such as an esthetician.
"As opposed to adding physical therapy or bringing a medical doctor aboard, we are going to add more quality services that our patients actually seek," he said. "Our success comes from our offering of these unique services."
