Mangia! Teens Cook Italian As Paramus Summer Camp Opens

PARAMUS, N.J. – Teens are invited to learn to cook Italian cuisine at Chef Central Culinary Center’s Cooking Camp starting Monday, June 27.

The camp is hands-on series of weeklong cooking classes for teens ages 11-17. Week one of camp will cover regional Italian cuisine from Northern Italy, including the cooking of Veneto, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna and a variety of other Northern Italian regions. The topics will include several varieties of pasta and gnocchi, salads, meats and desserts. Students will prepare a Carrello Cart of Italian appetizers for family and friends on graduation day. Week one will take place from Monday, June 27 through Friday, July 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.

Week two will cover regional Italian cuisine from Southern Italy, including the cooking of Rome, Naples, Sicily and other Southern Italian cuisines. Topics will include several varieties of pasta, meats and fish, as well as marzipan fruit and cannoli. Campers will prepare an Italian dessert buffet for parents, family and friends on graduation day. Week two of camp will take place Tuesday, July 5 through Saturday, July 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. 

Cost for each week of camp is $475 per week. Lunch will be provided each day. First-time campers must purchase a toolbox for $75. Upon completion of camp, campers will be able to keep the toolbox (filled with tools, gadgets and the camp notebook). Cooking Camp tool boxes may be used in all culinary camps.
