Bergen County to Host Blood Drives Throughout August

Summer months are desperate times for area blood banks, with supplies down to a day's reserves, according to Community Blood Services.

Anyone in good health can donate and the entire process takes about an entire, including registration.

"Summer months are difficult," Robert Hatch Senior/Lead Account Manager Community Blood Services said, noting high school drives make up about 18-20 percent of donations.

Plus there are vacations to consider. "The population in this area dips dramatically on weekends due to people going down the shore.”

To combat shortages, several blood donation drives are scheduled throughout Bergen County to ensure that the transfusion needs of area patients are met.

The drives are held with the Bergen County Community Blood Drives in cooperation with Community Blood Services.

Appointments for any drive can be made by calling 201-251-3703.
