The 'Doctor' Is In At Paramus Maven Center

PARAMUS, N.J. -- At The Maven Center in Paramus, the professionals there consider themselves movement science practitioners rather than physical therapists.

The goal, said Owner Taylor Lee, a certified Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), is to push clients to not only restore their strength but to go past their pre-injured state to a healthier level of fitness.

"In doing so, we hope to educate our clients and help them on a path toward self-sufficiency – not dependency," he said.

It's a point of difference, he said, that helps set them apart.

Maven's goal is to take an integrated approach to both physical therapy and fitness/wellness. On the fitness side, they approach fitness based on the sciences -- physics, anatomy, exercise physiology and biomechanics.

In other words, explained Lee: "We don’t want to be just your therapist or your fitness trainer  --  we want to be your partner in realizing your overall health potential."

Lee not only talks the talk, but walks the walk. His interest in the field comes from personal experience helping his grandmother recover from a debilitating stroke years ago. Bringing people to their optimal level of health is a passion he brings to the office every day.

While the company has been in business 11 years, Lee said he's forever growing it and tweaking it to make it the best it can be. To that end, he's brought on more DPT's. And, he's rounded out the well-being portion of his services by offering nutritional information.

There's also the occasional special event. Right now the company is hosting Saturday morning workouts to benefit Zimele, an organization that seeks to empower women in South Africa. And on August 12, there will be an Open House.

The Maven Center is at 4 Forest Ave., 201-977-4441. For more information, go to www.mavencenter.com/.
