'Serious' Crash Shuts Down Central Jersey Road For Several Hours: Njdot A serious crash shut down both directions of a road in Monmouth County for several hours, officials said. Howell Township police said Route 33 was closed between Yellow Brook Road and Route 34 on Tuesday, Apr. 2 for a "serious crash investigation," the department said in a Facebook post.  The state Department of Transportation said it was reported at around 10:45 a.m. Both directions of Route 33 near the intersection with Colts Neck Road remained closed as of 2 p.m. Howell police also asked drivers to avoid the area.

3-Year-Old Dies, Others Hospitalized In 3-Car Monmouth County Crash: Prosecutor A 3-year-old girl died in a three-car crash on Route 34 in Monmouth County over the weekend, authorities said. The crash involved a 2014 Dodge Ram pickup truck, a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and a 2021 Ford Bronco, and happened around 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13 north of the State Route 33 interchange, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said. The 3-year-old girl, who was riding in the Jeep Cherokee, was pronounced dead at the scene while a 2-year-old boy in the car was hospitalized with minor injuries, and the driver was seriously injured, Santiago said.
