The house was condemned until further notice because of the Aug. 5 lightning strike, displacing the Bygott family, who are now living in a hotel "for the foreseeable future," according to this GoFundMe page.

The lightning struck the crawl space, lighting the crawl space on fire and frying the electrical system in the house. The crawl space houses the furnace, hot water heater and AC.

On her Facebook page, Colleen Bygott wrote: "The Universe just making sure our lives never get boring. . . It could have been much worse. The three of us are safe, dry, cool and fed. Someone was watching over us. 💜

Jessica Ventrello organized a GoFundMe to support them and wrote, "Everyone was so grateful for the rain that we so desperately needed, but unfortunately, it was not a happy occasion for all when Colleen, Chris and Evie Bygott's home was struck by lightning. The lightning struck the crawl space, lighting the crawl space on fire and frying the electrical system in the house."

With 6-year-old Evie starting school and the family facing unexpected expenses, supporters have contributed nearly $4,000 to help the family move forward.
