NJ Athletes Lead USA Women's Field Hockey Back To Olympics
Team USA will make its return to the Olympics in women's field hockey and a duo from New Jersey helped the 16-player squad earn a summer trip to France. The U.S. beat Japan 2-1 in the semifinals of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Olympic Qualifiers in Ranchi, India, on Thursday, Jan. 18. NJ High School Junior, Varsity Lacrosse Goalie Alexea Karpinski Dies, 17
Hunterdon Central High School junior and varsity lacrosse goalie Alexea Karpinski died Nov. 21. She was 17. Born and raised in Raritan Township, Karpinski was known for her love of sports, particularly lacrosse. She played as goalie for the Hunterdon Central Red Devils as well as for the Triple Threat Elite Club Team, her obituary says. Karpinski had a goal of playing D1 lacrosse while pursuing an exercise science degree. She wanted to become a professional athletic trainer, her memorial says. 19: Bergen County HS Athletic Coach Tests Positive
A Bergen County high school will remain despite an athletic coach testing positive for COVID-19. River Dell Regional School District officials were told Saturday that a field hockey coach tested positive, according to a letter sent to parents Sunday by Supt. Patrick J. Fletcher. The coach "is only employed as a coach, is in good heath and following health protocols as determined by their personal health care professional," the letter says. Morris County Mom Joan Jennings Was Pioneer For Women In Engineering, 58
The Morris County community is mourning the loss of local mom and engineering industry pioneer Joan Susan Jennings. Jennings, 58, died after a long battle with cancer on August 4, her obituary says. A resident of Chatham, Jennings graduated from Scotch Plains Fanwood High School in 1980 and earned an engineering degree from Lafayette College in 1984, where she was one of the few female engineering majors in her class. Five years later, she married Bob Jennings and pursued opportunities in underwriting and HR before working as a loss control engineer and consultant at Chubb & Son Inc. โฆ
