The owner of a luxury SUV that was stolen from a train station in Fairfield County, CT in 2016 likely thought he'd never see it again. Fate intervened, however -- or, rather, the Saddle River Police Department. Officers Greg Bulick and Det. Michael Cooper stopped the 2015 Land Rover on northbound Route 17 for having tinted windows, among other violations, Police Chief Jason Cosgriff said. A 13-year-old boy was among a trio of underage car thieves captured by Paramus police overnight at the Mercedes Benz dealership on Route 17. Authorities believe the young teens are part of a crew responsible for similar incidents in Fairfield County, CT, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said. Authorities were searching for a hit-and-run driver who they said fled consecutive crashes on the George Washington Bridge and in Fort Lee. A GoFundMe has been established to aid the family of a 25-year-old Hawthorne man who died earlier this month driving in the damaging Nor'easter. Jonathan Rodriguez-Melendez, 25, of Hawthorne, was pronounced dead on the scene when a large tree fell on his car on the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield County amid the storm. Francisco Berdecia, 33, of Paterson was a passenger in the vehicle and was transported to Greenwich Hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
