UPDATE: Authorities gave the all-clear for Hackensack High School students and staff to return after a bomb threat phoned in from out of state cleared the school. The "swatting" incident began shortly before 9 a.m. Friday, March 4, when a caller "indicated he put bombs at a specific location" on school grounds, said Hackensack Police Capt. A 46-year-old cook from Essex County was arrested for raping a child in Bergen County, authorities announced. Terrell Williams, of Irvington, was arrested Dec. 8 -- three days after the Hackensack Police Department contact the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged incident, Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Man Plunges Six Floors From Window In Hackensack, Police Investigate
A 49-year-old man was hospitalized after apparently jumping out a 6th-floor window Saturday morning in Hackensack, authorities said. He was found unresponsive but breathing outside the Berkley Arms off Anderson Street shortly after 9:30 a.m., said Capt. Darrin DeWitt, the officer in charge of the department. An ambulance took him to Hackensack University Medical Center. Although no foul play was initially suspected, the area was treated as a crime scene and an investigation was continuing, the captain said.

A worker crawled out after an excavator tipped over at a Hackensack demolition site Friday afternoon.
