Group Of Distressed Boaters Rescued From Lake Hopatcong, Police Say
Several distressed boaters were rescued from Lake Hopatcong, authorities said. One adult in a trio of boaters aboard a pontoon vessel jumped into the water in the Great Cove section of the lake near Espanong Road on Saturday, July 2, Jefferson Township Police Capt. Robert Bush said in a release on Wednesday, July 6. The adult quickly went into distress, prompting a second boater to enter the water in a rescue attempt, police said. A great white shark was spotted off the coast of Sea Isle City, and a boater caught it all on video. Jim Piazza of Media, Pennsylvania, posted the footage to Facebook. "Look at this monster. Get, get, get away,'' Piazza says on the video to his son, Jayden, who was near the edge of the 23-foot boat. "He was a big shark." Coast Guard Helicopter Crew Rescues Fishermen From Burning Boat Off Jersey Shore
The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two fishermen after their boat caught fire approximately 34 miles off the Jersey Shore Thursday (click here for video). Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay received a mayday call from one of the fishermen on the 53-foot Sport Fisher boat "Reel E Bugging," saying their engines were engulfed in flames and they needed immediate assistance.
