Good Samaritan Rescues Hudson River Boaters As Yacht Goes Down In Smoke A good Samaritan rescued a group of boaters whose yacht caught fire and sank in the Hudson River on Saturday. All eight quickly got to safety as North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue boats moved in and began spraying the 48-foot vessel around 3:30 p.m., responders and witnesses said. Lake Hopatcong Boat Fire Spreads, Damages Surrounding Vessels, Docks (Photos) A fire that broke out on a boat on Lake Hopatcong spread and caused damage to the surrounding vessels and docks, authorities said. The Jefferson Township Fire Company No. 2 responded to the blaze in the Great Cove area of Lake Hopatcong on Wednesday, June 29. Upon arrival, the chief confirmed a working fire with the potential for exposure issues, the department said. The wreckage was found at Colliers Mills WMA in Jackson Township, the NJ Division of Wildlife said Monday. 1 Airlifted In Wildwood Boat Fire One person was airlifted in serious condition in a Wildwood boat fire Saturday. Arriving firefighters were flagged down to help a burn victim who was brought to a nearby business as flames ravaged the 40-foot pleasure vessel docked in the 400 block of Dock Street around 10:30 a.m., fire officials said. Wildwood Crest EMS and AtlantiCare Paramedics treated and transported the victim to the Cape May County Armory in Cape May Court House, where the patient was transferred to a Medevac helicopter and airlifted to Jefferson University Hospital Burn Center in Philadelphia.
