Paving Project Smooths Byways Of Bloomingdale

BLOOMINGDALE, N.J. — The final streets in a borough paving program that began early last month are expected to be completed by the end of next week.

The borough reallocated $630,000 of old debt for paving, Mayor Jonathan Dunleavy told Daily Voice.

A zero-interest $430,000 NJDEP loan covered paving and waterline replacement on Chestnut, Birch, First, and Popular streets.

Mathews Terrace and Hemlock Street were being worked on this week, along with Brandt Lane's animal shelter parking lot and borough hall's parking lots, Dunleavy said.

The county is paving Hamburg Turnpike from Glenwild Avenue to Macopin Road. The paving and curb improvements along the turnpike should be completed next week, officials said.

Ten of the borough’s roads have been smoothed over since the paving started in early September -- with Oct. 9 the anticipated completion date.

Forty of the 90 roads have been repaved since 2013.
