RINGWOOD, N.J. — The holidays may be nearly gone but not forgotten in Ringwood with the ambulance auxiliary club's scrapbooking fundraiser still to come Jan. 23.
The annual event runs for 12 hours starting at 10 a.m. and combines support for the Ringwood Ambulance Corps with preserving precious memories.
Melissa Kearney, who runs the "Crop Till You Drop" gathering, said January can be a slow time for donations so the scrapbooking livens up the month.
The club ran the event the past few years at the ambulance corps building, 115 Alta Vista Drive, and Kearney said she thinks it's popular because of it's personal nature.
"It's easy to go online and do the tech stuff," she told Daily Voice, "but I think having that 12 hours dedicated to doing something on our own helps. It's really just dedicated time with people who have the same interest that you do, but they have other ideas."
The number of participants can vary but the auxiliary cub also brings in vendors for music, food and even a massage therapist.
"They're very, very focused but they're a fun group," Kearney said of the scrapbookers.
Supporters can choose a half-day option as well if they can't make it for 12 hours.
The second Crop Till You Drop will be held in July, a time parents want to prepare pictures before the kids go back to school, Kearney said.
The event costs $45, which includes lunch, dinner and snacks, or $25 for the half-day.
