Morris County is mourning the unexpected loss of a beloved educator and mother of four after complications from a recent knee surgery.
Rebecca L. Koo died on Thursday, July 6, her obituary says. She was 40.
Born in Denville, Rebecca spent time in Jefferson, Randolph, and Roxbury before settling in Dover 14 years ago.
Rebecca attended Ellen T. Briggs Elementary School in Lake Hopatcong and graduated from Roxbury High School. She was a Brownie, a skilled softball player, and a 4-H club member.

Seen her? Authorities are seeking the public’s help locating a missing Morris County woman whose vehicle was found at a local Holiday Inn.
Lara Emanuel, 46, of Roxbury, was last seen in Roxbury on Wednesday, June 7, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said.
Her vehicle was found at the Holiday Inn Express in Mount Arlington the morning of Thursday, June 8, the prosecutor added.
Emanuel is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs about 125 pounds, and has red hair.

Busted: Warren County Man, Former Deacon, 66, Uploaded And Sent Child Porn, Prosecutor Says
A Warren County man and former deacon was arrested after allegedly uploading and sending child pornography, authorities announced.
Bruce Olsen, 66, was charged with two counts of child endangerment for possession and distribution of child pornography, Warren County Prosecutor James L. Pfeiffer said in a release on Wednesday, May 25.
Olsen, of Hackettstown, is accused of uploading child sexual abuse material, according to investigators who carried out a search warrant in Allamuchy Township on Wednesday, May 11.

NJ Man, 70, Sexually Assaulted Children In His Care, Lived In TN With Fake Name For 3 Decades
A North Jersey man sexually assaulted two children living under his care numerous times over the course of several years before fleeing to Tennessee and living under a fake identity for more than three decades, prosecutors said.
Richard A. Ziegler, 70, was in Roxbury when he performed “multiple sexual acts” on two children who had been living under his care between Dec. 1, 1981 and May 31, 1987, Acting Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said in a Wednesday release.
One child was abused between the ages of 10 and 15 and the other from ages 10 to 12, Carroll said.

Prosecutor: Essex County Corrections Officers Lied About Making Jail Rounds, Charged
A pair of Essex County Correctional Facility officers were charged with falsifying and tampering with records while working at the Newark jail, authorities said.
Raymond Distasi, of Roxbury, and Quasi Cary, of Newark, both made false entries in the jail logbook indicating that they made made rounds in the jail that surveillance footage indicated that they did not make, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, said.
