An Amtrak signal issue at New York Penn Station has suspended NJ Transit service on Friday, Jan. 12, officials said. All rail service on the Northeast Corridor, Raritan Valley Line and North Jersey Coast Line is suspended due to Amtrak signal issues, Kyalo Mulumba, a senior public information officer for NJ Transit said. Man Struck, Killed By Train Was First Of Two NJ Transit Fatalities Wednesday Night
A man was fatally struck by a train in South Orange on Wednesday, Dec. 13, in one of two fatal transit strikes that evening, NJ Transit said. At 7:37 p.m., a train not in passenger service, fatally injured the pedestrian west of the South Orange station, NJ Transit said. The train was being moved eastbound on the Morris and Essex Line and no customers were on board and no crew were injured, NJ Transit said. Pedestrian Fatally Struck By NJ Transit Train In North Jersey: Officials
A pedestrian was fatally struck by an NJ Transit train at Union Station on Wednesday, Dec. 13, transit officials said. At 10:20 p.m., a Raritan Valley Line train, which departed Penn Station 40 minutes earlier, struck and fatally injured the pedestrian, NJ Transit said. There were no injuries reported to the 200 customers or crew on board the train, NJ Transit said. Raritan Valley Line service was suspended in both directions but later resumed, NJ Transit said. The pedestrian has not been identified. New Jersey Transit police are leading the investigation.

Pedestrian Killed By Train In Union County, Delays Reported
Delays were reported on NJ Transit's Raritan Valley Line Sunday morning, March 26 due to a pedestrian having been fatally struck. The RVL train 5515, which left Newark Penn Station just before 9:40 a.m., struck the pedestrian around 9:50 a.m. on Galloping Hill Road near the Roselle Park station, NJT officials said. A person was struck and killed by an NJ Transit train in Union County, officials said. The male pedestrian was struck by Raritan Valley Line train 5413 near the Grant Avenue bridge in Plainfield around 8:55 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, NJT spokesman Jim Smith said. A man was struck and killed by a train in Union Monday afternoon, NJ Transit officials said. The unidentified man was struck by Raritan Valley Line train 5179 near Union Station around 3:05 p.m., NJ Transit Spokeswoman Nancy Snyder said. : Pedestrian Struck, Killed By NJ Transit Train ID'd As 18-Year-Old Man
NJ Transit officials have identified the pedestrian struck and killed by a train over the weekend as an 18-year-old Plainfield man. Lorenzo Bautista was struck by Raritan Valley Line train 5530 near the Plainfield station around 6:40 p.m. Saturday, NJ Transit spokeswoman Lisa Torbic said. None of the approximately 30 passengers on board the train were injured, Torbic said. The train left the Raritan Station at 6:14 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Cranford at 6:54 p.m. New Jersey Transit police were leading the investigation.

Somerset Teen Struck, Killed By Train
A teenage boy from Bridgewater was struck and killed by a commuter train on Memorial Day. The boy, described only as a minor, was struck by an eastbound Raritan Valley Line train west of the Bridgewater station shortly before 4:30 p.m. Monday, responders said. Six people were aboard the train, which left Raritan at 4:16 p.m. and was due to arrive at Newark’s Penn Station at 5:15 p.m. Services was suspended for more than 2½ hours between Raritan and Bound Brook. NJ Transit police were investigating.

7-Alarm Fire Rips Through Somerset County Downtown District
A seven-alarm fire tore through downtown Bound Brook Sunday night. The blaze broke out just before 8 p.m. in an unoccupied pair of buildings under construction on East Main Street near Mountain Avenue in the commercial district.
