Congestion Pricing: Murphy Opposes Hochul's Program Charging Drivers $9 In Parts Of Manhattan
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is pushing back against New York’s plan to revive the congestion pricing plan, expressing concerns about the impact on New Jersey commuters who regularly travel into Manhattan. Governor Kathy Hochul's plan, which reduces daily congestion fees to $9 down from $15, aims to reduce traffic and fund transit improvements, but Murphy argues it unfairly targets New Jersey residents. The plan would require motorists to face $9 tolls when entering certain parts of Manhattan known as the Congestion Relief Zone. The zone is comprised of Lower Manhattan south …

': Massive Crackdown On License Plate Fraud Begins At GWB, Lincoln Tunnel
A massive campaign to identify and seize "ghost plate" vehicles roared from the starting line with 73 impounds, 282 summonses and eight arrests at the Lincoln Tunnel and George Washington and Triborough bridges, authorities announced on Tuesday. Port Authority police seized plates and vehicles from 30 motorists at the Lincoln and the GWB while issuing 142 summonses, sources there told Daily Voice. They also impounded three vehicles responsible for more than $700,000 in unpaid tolls and fees -- including more than $130,000 tied to a single New Jersey company, Green Brothers Logisti…

Bridge And (Holland) Tunnel Traffic Blocked By Pro-Palestinian Demonstrators, 325 Arrests Made
The Holland Tunnel was closed for nearly an hour during an anti-Israeli protest in Manhattan at the tail end of Monday morning's rush hour. The NYPD and Port Authority police seized hundreds of “Shut it Down for Palestine” protestors before releasing them on misdemeanor charges -- not summonses -- after they blocked the entrances to the tunnel and three East River bridges. That means they must attend court dates in person. Any who don't can have warrants issued for their arrests. Some of the protesters linked themselves using concrete-filled tires while others held signs that said "Lift t…

NJ Dad Killed By Train At NY Penn Station After Holiday Party: MTA
A 36-year-old New Jersey dad was struck and killed by a train at New York Penn Station after a holiday party, prompting an outpour of support for the family he leaves behind. Keith Harvey, of Belle Meade, was struck by Long Island Rail Road train #380 on Track 17 just before 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, MTA spokesperson Renee Price said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Harvey had been attending a holiday party in Manhattan and had planned to use New Jersey Transit service to return home, Price said, adding that the investigation was ongoing but did not appear suspicious. Meanwhile, …

'Prophet Of Doom' Pleads Guilty To Mass NYC Subway Shooting
UPDATE: An assailant who opened fire on a packed New York City subway train last year, wounding 10 commuters and igniting underground terror, admitted on Tuesday, Jan. 3 that he intended to cause mass harm. No one was killed in the horrific attack by Frank James, 63, which left victims strewn across a smoky 36th Street platform in the Sunset Park section of Brooklyn at the height of the April 12 morning rush. Rather than risk the consequences of a guilty verdict at a jury trial, James took a deal from prosecutors. The heavyset and balding domestic terrorist -- who'd dubbed himself the…

One Of These Vehicles Is Not Like The Others: Repetitive Toll Evader Nabbed At Holland Tunnel
Mechanical devices that cover the license plates of vehicles gliding past Hudson River bridge and tunnel tolls were once a rarity. Exorbitant tolls have upped the ante, however. This week, an observant Port Authority police officer at the Holland Tunnel caught yet another driver utilizing an electronic sliding panel to cover a rear plate, authorities said. Quintin T. White, 41, of Brooklyn wasn't only one of several motorists who've failed to slip by the PAPD's watchful eye in recent weeks, Port Authority Spokeswoman Lenis Valens said. He has also cheated the Port Authority and the MTA ou…

ass Tags On Craigslist Rams Port Authority Police Car Near GWB
A man caught selling stolen E-ZPass tags hit a Port Authority police detective’s vehicle with his car as he tried to escape arrest, authorities said. Detectives chased down and captured Jayquan K. Crawford, 25, in Fort Lee after he rammed the police car in Edgewater, Port Authority spokeswoman Lenis Rodrigues said. The Port Authority’s Office of Inspector General began investigating after getting a tip earlier this year that Crawford was selling unauthorized EZ-Pass tags on Craigslist that he claimed worked at MTA, PANYNJ and NYS Thruway Authority facilities, Rodrigues said Friday. “Text c…

): NJ Sees Glow Cast By Con Ed Transformer Explosion In Queens
The glow from a transformer explosion Thursday night in Queens could be seen from New Jersey. "Arcing" at the Con Ed substation at a 31st Street in Astoria cast a blue glow over a massive cloud of smoke that could be seen for miles (see video by Peter Zanin, above). It also closed down La Guardia Airport, delayed the MTA's No. 7 train and sent power surges through parts of the borough. "There was a brief electrical fire at our substation in Astoria, which involved some electrical transformers and caused a transmission dip in the area," Consolidated Edison tweeted at 10:37 p.m. "We're …

Meet The Roman Twins: Widowed Dumont Dad Hopes Girls Will Remember Mom
It's been nearly three months since Dumont's Julia Roman died giving birth to twin girls Grace and Isabella. Her widowed husband and the girls' dad, Victor Roman, says he has his ups and downs. But there's one thing that has yet to get easier. Unlike Julia's older children Dwayne and Valeria, and 5-year-old Victoria with whom she shares with Victor, the twins will never know their mom. "I'm still dealing with that one," he said, teary-eyed. "It's difficult." Victor has been out of work as an MTA employee in New York City since Julia's death Nov. 16 of last year. He's…
