'Get In The Van,' Driver Told 11-Year-Old On Bergen County Street, Police Say
Police are warning residents after a driver reportedly tried to get a child inside of his vehicle one night this week in Bergen County. Little Ferry police said that the 11-year-old boy was walking to a friend's house when the driver of a white van pulled up next to him on Lakeview Avenue and Grand Street around 7:20 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9. The van pulled up next to him and the driver said, "Get in the van," according to police. The boy ran home as the van sped away, police said. Little Ferry Police Stop Turns Up More Than Three Pounds Of Pot, Motel Packing Operation
A Little Ferry police sergeant turned up more than three pounds of pot after stopping a Paterson driver, authorities said. Sgt. John Andronaco stopped a 2002 Honda Civic driven by Jermal Hogan, 27, after he ignored a stop sign on Bergen Turnpike at Lakeview Avenue shortly before midnight Tuesday, Police Chief James Walters said. Adronaco -- who was joined by Officers Michael Lee and Joseph Convery -- noticed a strong odor of marijuana when he approached the car "despite the window only being partially open," Walters said.
