A routine day in August turned into a nightmare for Bergen County dad and CUNY professor Frank Cornacchiulo, who went from walking and talking to being on life support within 48 hours. Frank Cornacchiulo, who has Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and was on immunosuppressive treatment with Rituxan, contracted the virus over the summer, which triggered encephalitis — a severe brain inflammation — that has left him unable to eat, speak, or walk. North Jersey Rallies Around Teacher Facing Hardest Challenge
Sharon Governale has been battling health issues her entire life. But now she faces her toughest battle. In May, Governale underwent emergency spinal surgery after an infection traveled to her spinal cord. While the surgery was successful, her spinal column suffered severe damage, rendering her a quadriplegic. She currently uses a motorized wheelchair. Local Organization Goes Above And Beyond For Single Passaic County Mom, Wheelchair-Bound Son
Life recently got much easier for a single Passaic County mom and her 10-year-old son with cerebral palsy, thanks to the help from a local organization. Tracy Kulick of Totowa has been mostly on her own in caring for her son Matthew, who is confined to a wheelchair. Both Matthew's father and Tracy's father both passed away, which made things even more difficult -- particularly around the house.
