Smoking Radiator Brings Firefighters To Hasbrouck Heights Restaurant
A fire at the Heights bar and grill was knocked down this weekend. Crews were called to the restaurant at 165 Boulevard on Saturday evening, Nov. 2, for reports of smoke coming from the radiator on the second floor, the fire department said. Chief 62 arrived on the scene and found fire in the walls on the first floor and smoke throughout the building. Crews from Squad 1 stretched a line and were able to knock the fire before it spread.

Paterson Building Collapse Under Investigation
Authorities are investigating a building collapse overnight in Paterson. The vacant, single-story building on Ryle Avenue collapsed around 12 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, the fire department said. The building is attached to a vacant three-story mill. Public Service Electric was on the scene working to isolate power to the street and manage downed wires. Crews are actively conducting primary searches of the collapsed area.

Six vehicles crashed on the New Jersey Turnpike in Bordentown Township, causing traffic backups for several miles, officials said. Troopers responded to the crash at 11:26 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, a state police spokesperson said. It happened on the northbound outer highway north of Exit 7 near milepost 54.4. Investigators said the crash involved two tractor-trailers, a transit bus, a flatbed truck, a box truck, and a transit van. A New Jersey boy was killed when a tree fell on him in a backyard, authorities said. Lucas Schwartz, 12, was identified as the victim of the Eldridge Avenue incident in Lawrence Township on a GoFundMe page. Police said he'd been playing with a friend in the backyard of a home when gusty winds blew the tree over, and it fell onto him around 12:09 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. A train operator was killed and multiple others hurt after a tree fell on an NJ Transit train Monday morning, Oct. 14 in Burlington County. Major delays were reported to NJ Transit's Main-Bergen Line after a person was struck and killed by a train Tuesday morning, Oct. 1. Crash Shuts All Lanes Of Route 80 In Paterson
A crash closed all lanes of Route 80 in Paterson Sunday night, Sept. 29. Three vehicles were heading east when they were involved in a chain-reaction crash, each one rear-ending the next as traffic began to slow down at milepost 58.4 around 8:10 p.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan said. No injuries were reported and the highway has since reopened.
