PETA Proposes Groundhog Day ‘Weather Reveal’ Cake To Retire Punxsutawney Phil, Club Responds
Punxsutawney Phil may soon be out of a job—if PETA has its way. The animal rights organization sent a letter on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, urging the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club to retire its famed groundhog to a sanctuary and replace him with a vegan “Weather Reveal” cake.

Animal Advocate Janine Weinert, Formerly Of Norwood, Dies Suddenly At 57
Hearts broke across North Jersey following the sudden death of Janine Weinert.
The West Milford resident, formerly of Norwood, died unexpectedly at 57 years old, according to a GoFundMe page launched for her loved ones.
Nancy Warner, the page creator, remembered Janine for her kindness and altruism.
"An amazing woman, a fiercely dedicated mother to Aidan, an animal advocate and a loving and devoted partner to her soulmate Keith," Warner writes.

RIVER VALE, N.J. — Happy birthday to Bill Maher of River Vale, who turns 62 on Saturday.
He was born in New York City on Jan. 20, 1956 and was raised in River Vale, graduating from Pascack Hills High School in Montvale in 1974. He double majored in English and history at Cornell University, graduating in 1978.
