A resident said a black man in a white t-shirt and black shorts took off after he found him on a neighbor’s property around 10 p.m., Detective Sgt. John J. DeVoe told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

Although a rear window screen had been removed, no entry apparently was gained, he said.

“The scene was secured and a perimeter was established with assistance from the Hillsdale, Old Tappan, Park Ridge, Westwood, and Woodcliff Lake police,” DeVoe said.

A Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit and the New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit responded and searched the area, the sergeant said.

The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation collected evidence, he said.

The search was called off at 12:23 a.m.
