NORWOOD, N.J. — Norwood resident Kevin E. Toomey died Monday, May 9. He was 59.
Prior to retiring in 2009, Toomey was a Hackensack police officer for 25 years and served as president and state delegate for P.B.A. Local # 9 of Hackensack.
He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity R. C. Church of Hackensack and a member of the Knights of Columbus Trinity Council # 747 and Bishop O'Connor General Assembly Fourth Degree of Hackensack.
Toomey is survived by his wife of 25 years, Eileen "Gigi" B. (Finneran); son, Dennis Toomey; brother, Michael Toomey and his wife Donna; sister, Laurie Toomey; nephews, Michael, Eric, Chris, Nick, Reiner and Eric; nieces, Katie, Colleen and Michelle; sister-in-law Jane Vindigni and her husband Frank; and brother-in-law Brian Finneran and his fiancé Karla Rose.
Toomey was predeceased by his parents Edward J. and Lorraine (Loughman) Tooney; his brother, Christopher Toomey; and his brother-in-law, Michael Finneran.
The funeral will be at 8:45 a.m. Saturday from the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union St., Hackensack.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity R. C. Church, 34 Maple Ave., Hackensack, with burial following at Hackensack Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.
