Hector J. Caruso, 83, Former Norwood Resident

NORWOOD, N.J. -- Hector J. Caruso, an Ocean County resident and formerly of Norwood, died Wednesday, Feb. 3. He was 83.

Caruso was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. In addition to his career as a salesman for Hydro-Therm in Northvale, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service and owned a delicatessen in Brooklyn.

He also loved jazz and playing the piano.

Caruso is survived by his children, Stephen and his wife Rosalie of River Vale, and Denise Carnazza and her husband Guy of Old Tappan; grandchildren Kristen, Stephen, Alyssa, Sonni and Jean Marie; great-granddaughter Poppy Rose; siblings Grace LoRubbio of Brooklyn, and Albert Caruso and his wife Gina of Connecticut; nephews Al, Michael and Robert; and his companion Barbara Himich.

He was predeceased by his former wife, Angelina.

A funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 at St. Andrew’s in Westwood. Pizzi Funeral Home, in Northvale, assisted with the arrangements.
