Rick Feingold, who teaches at Bergen Community College, will give a talk entitled “Escape from Behind Enemy Lines… Operation Bonaparte.”
Sponsored by the Harrington Park Historical Society, the talk at the Herring Street library begins at 7:30 p.m.
Feingold’s father, Lt. Louis Feingold, was flying a bombing missions for what was then the U.S. Air Corps when his B-17 "Flying Fortress" was shot down during a dogfight with seven Nazi aircraft over occupied France.
Using letters, maps, photos and original fake identity cards, his son tells the lieutenant's story of escape via the Shelburne Line network, which returned 136 Allied servicemen to England.
A reception follows the free presentation.
