Pre-teens rode the zipper and other spinning carnival rides, while others played Fat Cat and other ball toss games attempting to win stuffed dolls or inflatable prizes during the four-day, biennial event on Park Street.
Thursday's activities were canceled, but the parish collected $14,000 in raffle tickets going into today.
Officials and members hoped to raise $20,000 overall "so the kids can take trips and participate in activities," parish member Joan Byrd said.
Susan Jansson was up to her elbows sorting colorful t-shirts as free giveaways as she helped the Rev. Stephen Fichter.
"It really got to be too much, too difficult to hold it each year, " Fichter said of the biennial event. "So we do it every two years. The funds really help the kids."
Because of Fichter, Maria Citro of Saddle River has been making zeppole for the past four church carnivals.
"I followed him here from our old church to this church, and this is my way of supporting him," she said, while frying a dozen of the doughy balls.
Ryan Lee, a freshman attending a Jesuit School in New York, volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 73 out of Haworth.
"We get a lot of help from them and from the Haworth 5K, so we rotate shifts for whatever we need," he said, while collecting trash on the grounds. "Right now, I don't know my Eagle Scout project, but volunteering is part of our service."
