The victim was crossing Plaza Road when she was struck shortly after 2 p.m. by a 2010 GMC van driven by a 57-year-old Hackettstown man who was making a left turn from Morlot Avenue, Sgt. Ridgewood Firefighters Quickly Douse House Blaze Ridgewood firefighters quickly extinguished a house fire Wednesday afternoon. Residents got out safely and no injuries were reported at the split-level, single-family home in the 400 block of Race Track Road. The fire apparently began on the first floor and spread upstairs, bringing village firefighters, police and EMS. The home sustained moderate fire, smoke and water damage. Boyd A. The Freon leak, discovered around 8:30 a.m., was traced to an HVAC unit on the roof, which "caused a smoke condition on the second floor," one responder said. The building was ventilated and the all-clear was given to return shortly after 9 a.m. No injuries were reported. The women left the marked trail Monday afternoon and were caught on steep, boulder-filled terrain in the Alpine section of Palisades Interstate Park near what's known as the Giant Stairs, PIP Police Lt. Saddle Brook Man, 76, Severely Burned A 76-year-old Saddle Brook man smoking a cigarette on his front porch Friday afternoon was severely burned after his flannel pants ignited, poilce said. “He didn’t realize what happened until it was too late,” Police Chief Robert Kugler told Daily Voice. AirMed One flew the Wilson Street victim to St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston after he inadvertently dropped the cigarette in his lap, the chief said. He suffered third-degree burns on his leg, Kugler said.
