Hearts broke across North Jersey on Christmas Eve as news spread of the passing of Craig Parrella, a retired Upper Saddle River Police officer and former United States Marine.
Parrella's wife, Lauren, shared the news of his passing in an emotional Facebook post on Tuesday, Dec. 24.

Ticket Sold In Allendale Splits Jersey Cash 5 Jackpot
It was a happy Halloween for three lottery players in North Jersey.
Three tickets, sold in Bergen County, Newark and Jersey City, matched all five numbers drawn splitting the $166,806 Jersey Cash 5 jackpot from the drawing on Thursday, Oct. 31, with each ticket worth $55,602.
The tickets were sold at Acme in Allendale, Welsh Farms in Newark and Green Deli in Jersey City.

Disturbing details have come to light in the case of a 41-year-old man arrested for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl this month in North Jersey.
According to the affidavit for probable cause obtained by Daily Voice, Solomon Blay was in a white SUV when he approached his victim, who was walking home from school.
Blay called the girl over to his vehicle, asked her age, and if she wanted a ride home, police papers said. She agreed, but instead of taking the girl home, Blay took her to his home, a basement of a home on Brighton Street in Union, the affidavit says.

Forecasters are following the first winter storm of the season for the Northeast, expected to arrive this weekend, AccuWeather reports.
