Among the other incidents so far today, a pedestrian was reported struck by a snow plow in Hackensack — but was only “clipped” and refused medical attention, police.
The snowstorm also made it difficult for firefighters to battle a blaze on Jean Street in Ramsey.
The blaze apparently began in the chimney around 11 a.m. and shot through the top but didn’t damage the rest of the house, Ramsey Police Capt. David Stitz told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
Mahwah FAST and an Allendale engine joined their Ramsey colleagues.
“The snow made it difficult to get apparatus in,” Stitz said. “But police officers who were the first on scene got everyone out safely and the firefighters got in as quickly as they could. They contained it to the chimney.”
Meanwhile, buses and cars have been stuck all over North Jersey (PHOTO BELOW: Cedar Lane in Teaneck, by Willy Thompson).
“Stay at home,” Hansen urged. “Leave the roads for the emergency services and the plows.”
