According to her bio on abc.com, she serves on the board of trustees at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center Foundation, Bergen Performing Arts Center and St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson.
Stokes started her career up and down the East Coast, eventually landing a job for ABC in New York City. She was one of the original anchors on MSNBC and the first African-American to speak on the cable news network, according to Wikipedia.
While on cable television Stokes covered the Columbine High School massacre and the death of John F. Kennedy Jr. in 1999.
