Swimmers Drown At Mine Hill Beach
A trip to a North Jersey lake turned deadly for two swimmers on Tuesday, June 14. Bodies of the 17- and- 22-year-old Hispanic males were recovered from the waters of Mine Hill Beach in the evening hours, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said. The pair had gone in with a group at the sand pits around 5:20 p.m. and never came out, launching an intensive search that was complicated by the vegetation below the surface. Support Surges For Family Of Former Parsippany Fire Chief, Volunteer After Unexpected Death
Support is surging for the family of a former Parsippany fire chief and lifelong volunteer member who died after battling a long illness. Francisco Munoz, life member and former Chief of Parsippany Rescue and Recovery, died April 15, the department said. Munoz, whose family came to the U.S. from Chile, spent more than two decades saving lives and serving as a dedicated volunteer on the Parsippany rescue squad. Teen, Sibling Escape Parsippany House Fire
A teenager and a a younger sibling called 911 after a fire broke out at their Parsippany home, ultimately displacing the family, authorities said. The two were on the second floor of the Allentown Road home when they smelled smoke just before fire alarms went off around 5:40 p.m. Thursday, Parsippany police said. The pair was able to get out uninjured as heavy smoke billowed from the kitchen window, authorities said. The children told officers their cat may still be inside. Body Recovered Near Boonton Reservoir
A body was recovered Sunday morning near the Boonton Reservoir in Parsippany, authorities said. Jack Giannetti, president of the Parsippany Rescue and Recovery, told the Daily Record police and fire were along Parsippany Boulevard before noon.
