New Milford Home Damaged By Runaway SUV
A driver escaped injury when her SUV slammed into a house in a quiet New Milford neighborhood on Thursday, police said. The 65-year-old motorist apparently lost control of the 2020 Acura RDX while backing up on Webster Drive just off Batterson Court around 9:30 a.m. Jan. 11, Police Chief Brian Clancy said. She wasn't injured, he said. New Milford firefighters were immediately at the residence in the north end of town, joined by their colleagues from Oradell and River Edge. Five employees checked out OK, and firefighters plucked three others from the roof, after a broken refrigeration pipe filled Stew Leonard's in Paramus with carbon dioxide early Tuesday. The store hadn't opened yet when responders rushed to the Paramus Park mall at 7:45 a.m. Nov. 6, Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said. The pipe had been ruptured, releasing the CO2, while a service company was doing maintenance work, the chief said. Paramus House Fire Doused
Firefighters doused a Paramus house blaze on Tuesday. The smoky fire apparently broke out in an attached garage and extended into the attic of the Behnke Avenue home shortly after 11 a.m. Firefighters had the bulk of the two-alarm blaze knocked down within 45 minutes. A popular Hillsdale firefighter was found dead in his SUV Thursday in the upper Hackensack River in River Vale after apparently suffering a heart attack, responders said.
