New York Kayaker Mourned After Death During Nor'easter Memorial services have been scheduled to honor the life of a Westchester County man who died after a powerful Nor'easter rolled in while he was kayaking on the Long Island Sound. Laurence Broderick, age 45, of Scarsdale, was reported overdue by his family on Tuesday, Oct. 26, after he left Hempstead en route to Mamamronek in his kayak at about 9 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, authorities reported.  He was found unresponsive by the US Coast Guard on Tuesday afternoon, and he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Heroes: Off-Duty NJ Trooper, Passing Bicyclist Rescue Stranded Kayakers A pair of kayakers who fell overboard into a Monmouth County creek were saved by a New Jersey State trooper and Good Samaritan, authorities said.  State Police Sgt. First Class Erin Smith was driving over the Glimmer Glass Bridge on Sunday when she noticed an overturned kayak, NJSP said on Facebook. Smith also spotted two orange life vests floating in Glimmer Glass Creek and two women struggling in the water, police said. Trio Of Stranded Boaters Rescued From Rough Waters Of Hunterdon County Reservoir Emergency crews were quick to rescue a man whose kayak overturned in a Hunterdon County reservoir — as well as the two good Samaritans who attempted to save him but overturned in their boat as well, authorities said. The man fell from his kayak due to “rough chop” at the Round Valley Recreational Area of the reservoir in Clinton just after 4 p.m. Monday, according to South Branch Emergency Services. The fallen boater called 911 from the water with a life jacket, advising responders that he was unable to get back to his kayak, authorities said. Emergency crews pinpointed the man’s location …

Water Search Continues For Missing Jersey Shore Kayaker Authorities continued a search Friday for a Burlington County kayaker who apparently couldn’t get back to land before a storm hit the Jersey Shore. Nadem Aksoy, 50, of Bordentown and a friend were fishing in their kayaks on the Navesink River in Monmouth County when the storm blew in around midnight, his brother, Mujdad, told News 12. He "looked at his phone, the storm was coming, and then he called his friend [who] was on [a] kayak too,” his brother said. Missing Kayaker Presumed Drowned Off Jersey Coast, Massive Air, Water Search Suspended Authorities on Sunday suspended a search for a kayaker who fell into Raritan Bay the day before. Search and rescue crews in New Jersey and on Staten Island searched the water after a passerby rescued two of the victim's companions when all three of their kayaks overturned near the Great Beds Lighthouse in South Amboy.
