Massive Fire Burns Through Morris County Home
A massive house fire raged for hours in Jefferson Township as firefighters battled the blaze on Tuesday night, authorities say. First responders were called to a home on Vassar Road in Newfoundland just after 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 20 for a reported structure fire, county officials said. On arrival, firemen saw the home "fully engulfed in flames," but found that the building had been safely evacuated. Group Of Distressed Boaters Rescued From Lake Hopatcong, Police Say
Several distressed boaters were rescued from Lake Hopatcong, authorities said. One adult in a trio of boaters aboard a pontoon vessel jumped into the water in the Great Cove section of the lake near Espanong Road on Saturday, July 2, Jefferson Township Police Capt. Man Arrested For 31 Graffiti Incidents Across Morris County Town: Police
A 20-year-old man was charged in 31 graffiti incidents over the last four months across Morris County, authorities said. Shjon Peterson defaced multiple properties in Jefferson, including the marquee sign in front of the high school, parts of the Abenaki Trail, and more, Jefferson Township police said. The investigation into the incidents began on Dec. 8, 2021 on the trail, when police thought that incident was isolated. Peterson was slapped with 31 counts of criminal mischief and released on a court summons.

Multiple Injuries In 2-Car Crash On Route 15, Police Say
Multiple people were injured Monday night in a two-car crash on Route 15 in Jefferson, police said. The vehicles collided in the northbound lanes near milepost 4.1, about 400 feet north of Berkshire Valley Road, around 8 p.m., Jefferson Township Police Capt. Robert Bush told Daily Voice. Occupants of both vehicles suffered minor injuries and were taken to Morristown Medical Center and St. Clare’s in Denville for treatment, Bush said. Additional details were not immediately released.

A Sussex County man went on a rampage at an Oak Ridge bar, breaking glasses, lights and shattering the building’s back door window, authorities charged. Adam Waciura, 40, of Sparta, caused the damage during an altercation at the Daily Planet in Oak Ridge on Feb. 6, Jefferson Township Police said. Police in Morris County arrested a pair they say carried out a string of early-morning car burglaries. Thomas Berry, 31, and Samantha Delano, 26, are accused of breaking into cars on Shore Road in Lake Hopatcong and stealing various personal property on Feb. 16 around 6:10 a.m., Jefferson Township Police said. Berry, of Wharton, and Delano, of Stanhope, were identified by witnesses and taken into custody, where they were charged with burglary and theft, authorities said.
