Air Conditioner Blocked Firefighters From Rescuing Victim In Byram House House Fire Firefighters had no choice but to brave the flames and smoke ravaging a Sussex County home in order to rescue a victim this weekend. The blaze in the Lake Lackawanna section of Byram Township was one of two for firefighters on Saturday, Nov. 18. This one broke out around 3:51 a.m., the local fire department said. While firefighters initially tried to rescue the trapped occupant with a ladder on the second floor through a window, a police officer pointed out that an air condition blocked access. Massive Car Fire Expands To Sussex County Home [Photos] Fire crews in Sussex County were quick to douse a massive car fire that spread to a nearby home Sunday evening.  The Byram Township firefighters responded to the blaze in the Brookwood section of town and confirmed that the fire had spread to the adjacent home around 4:40 p.m., the department said. Crews worked together to stretch a line and begin fire suppression efforts while checking the structure’s interior and initiating smoke remediation.
