Police Sgt. Kyle Laauwe and Patrolman Saul Gutierrez are being praised for their efforts in delivering the baby girl on Tikvah Way at 12:22 a.m. Sunday.

The baby's mom and dad were still deciding on a name for her.

Laauwe is a trained EMT and former member of the township's emergency services unit. He helped deliver another baby in the township in September 2017.

Gutierrez is new to the department, however, has been involved in several emergency calls since his hire in July 2018.

"I am continuously impressed by the actions of my officers every day," Chief Mark DiCarlo said. "I thank them for their commitment and dedication to the community."

The officers were assisted by the Morris Minute Men First Aid Squad and the Atlantic Health MICU.
