Casey R. Powers of Morris Township broke into the house through a rear deck window and took various pieces of jewelry, a handgun, two shotguns and two rifles in December 2015, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp said in a joint press release with local police.
Powers was found guilty of several weapons offenses as well as burglary, criminal mischief, hindering prosecution and drug possession.
Barred from possessing weapons due to a prior robbery conviction, Powers was also found guilty of five additional counts of possessing a weapon while prohibited.
He was sentenced on July 2 to 15 years in New Jersey State Prison, and must serve 13 and-a-half years before he's eligible for parole.
