A joint investigation involving detectives from Essex and Ocean counties resulted in the arrest of four drug-dealing suspects from Newark, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. Crackdown: 10 Busted, Guns, Drugs Seized, 350 Tickets Written, Cars Towed In Paterson PD Blitz Paterson police blitzed the city over the weekend, arresting 10 people, seizing two guns and nearly 1,000 heroin folds, among other drugs, and writing 349 traffic tickets as part of a crackdown on rising crime. The special ops detail “was deployed in our continued strategic response to an uptick in violent crime nationally,” city Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said. A three-judge panel found that detectives lied to Anthony Sims Jr., 32, of Long Branch about why they wanted to question him: for an assault rather than the actual charge of attempted murder. FBI: Wanted Armed, Dangerous Paterson Gang Member Surrenders An armed and dangerous ex-con from Paterson surrendered to authorities after the FBI posted a $5,000 reward for his capture. Cesar David Valerio, a 28-year-old Dominican national, turned himself in to face several federal weapons violations, a bureau spokeswoman said. A U.S. District Court judge in Newark two weeks ago issued a warrant for the arrest of Valerio -- also known as "Chico Trini" -- after federal authorities charged him with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
