Crashes Close Routes 1 & 9 In Central Jersey Three separate crashes closed parts of Route 1 and Route 9 in Middlesex County, authorities said. The first crash involved an overturned dump truck and occurred at about 9:35 a.m. Monday, April 3, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. The crash occurred on Route 9 southbound near Route 656/Smith Street in Woodbridge, the state DOT said. The driver damaged the entrance to Pierre's Deli on Georges Road around 1 a.m., totaling the car, South Brunswick police said. The driver was issued a summons. Police said speed was the reason for the crash.
