Driver, 59, Killed In Jersey Shore Crash A 59-year-old woman from Browns Mills was killed in a crash in Ocean County, authorities said. On Friday, May 12 at 5:48 p.m., the woman was driving a 2013 Volvo at the intersection of Longsamp and Route 539 in Plumsted Township, police said. As she entered the intersection, a 2021 Sliver Nissan that was driven by a 40-year-old man from Princeton was traveling south on Route 539.  As the Volvo entered the intersection, the Silver Nissan collied into the Volvo, police said. Wildfire Spreads To 3,800 Acres In Ocean County UPDATED: Residents in Ocean County were allowed to return to their homes after a wildfire was 60 percent contained Wednesday, April 12.  The New Jersey Forest Fire Service made substantial progress in Manchester Township fighting the fire that destroyed 3,859 acres. Firefighters Battle Wildfire On Jersey Shore Firefighters were battling a large wildfire on Tuesday afternoon, March 7, authorities said. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service said it was responding to an active wildfire off Route 539 west of the Garden State Parkway in Little Egg Harbor Township. The wildfire in Stafford Forge Wildlife Management Area had reached 125 acres in size and was 0% contained, the Forest Fire Service said mid-afternoon. The 2023 GMC Sierra was later discovered near the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, according to Stafford Township police. On Saturday, Feb. 18, at about 8:15 p.m., Stafford police received a call from Barlow GMC car dealership that a car had not been returned from a morning test drive. Allentown High Schooler Struck, Killed By Car Jogging A 16-year-old girl died while jogging early Friday, Feb. 17 in Monmouth County, authorities said. The Allentown High School student was struck by a Kia Soul heading north on Route 539 in Upper Freehold Township around 7:45 a.m., New Jersey State Police said. The driver crossed over the center line and then up a grass embankment after hitting the girl near milepost 37.72, State Police said. On Sunday, July 24 at approximately 2 p.m. Little Egg Harbor police responded to Route 539 at the Garden State Parkway overpass for a crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle.  Preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle was traveling north on Route 539 when the passenger vehicle, which had been parked on the northbound shoulder of the road, attempted to make a U-turn, police said.
