20 Cats Rescued From Bug-Infested Neptune Apartment: Officials Twenty cats — some with eye ulcers and respiratory problems — were rescued from a bug-infested apartment in Monmouth County, authorities said. Monmouth County SPCA Humane Law Enforcement received an anonymous tip on Wednesday, Nov. 1. The apartment in Neptune had two adults, and two children, ages 6 and 3 also living there.  Many of the cats were found to have had upper respiratory infections, eye ulcers, some with dental disease, and were all very scared upon intake, but generally in fair health, the SPCA said on Facebook. Alligator In Plastic Container Dumped At Jersey Shore A young alligator in a plastic container was found abandoned in an empty lot at the Jersey Shore, authorities said. A resident of Bangs Avenue in Neptune made the heartbreaking discovery and called the Monmouth County SPCA Sunday, Jan. 15, the organization said. The young alligator was brought back to the shelter and given a clean tank that allowed proper air circulation and is being kept in a climate-controlled area. Monmouth County SPCA Appoints New Law Enforcement Officers A former Eatontown police chief has been named as the new chief of the Monmouth County SPCA, authorities said. Michael D. Goldfarb has been named the Monmouth County SPCA’s new Chief of Law Enforcement, responsible for overseeing the enforcement of animal cruelty cases in the county, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni. Goldfarb replaces Ross Licitra who has been chief since May 2015.
