Death Of Man In Toms River Fire Due To Smoke Inhalation An autopsy on the 76-year-old man killed in a fire in Toms River has ruled his cause of death was asphyxia due to smoke inhalation, authorities said. The examination and investigation concluded that Billy Kimbrough’s death was accidental and possibly due to smoking in bed, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. His body was discovered in a structure fire on Roberts Road in Toms River Township on Thursday, Feb. 16. Investigators concluded that the fire originated on a mattress in the bedroom of the residence.

Authorities ID Victim, Possible Cause Of Fatal Toms River Fire A 76-year-old man was killed in a fire that broke out in a Toms River mobile home on Thursday, Feb. 16, authorities said. The fire at the Roberts Road home that killed Billy Kimbrough was also ruled accidental, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said. The fire originated on a mattress in the only bedroom of the home and that smoking could not be eliminated as the cause of the fire. A post mortem examination of the victim is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18.

On Thursday, Feb. 16 at about 3 p.m., Toms River police and firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Roberts Road.  During the primary search of the residence, the body of a dead male was discovered, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D.
