Six Hospitalized In Route 9 Crash In Toms River Six people were hospitalized in a crash on Route 9, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 7:40 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, near the intersection of Hecht Drive, Toms River police said. An initial investigation revealed that Elvis Guadulupe Dominguez Avila was traveling south on Route 9 when he lost control of the vehicle.  He crashed into an oncoming vehicle forcing it off the roadway and into a driveway exit, where it struck a third vehicle, police said. Police ID Man, 89, Drowned In Jersey Shore Lagoon Authorities have identified the man found drowned in a Jersey Shore lagoon. The elderly man was found floating face down along Laurel Boulevard, Lanoka Harbor, at 1:22 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, according to Lacey Police Capt. Paul Sullivan Jr. The man was identified as Robert Mcelvaney, 89, of 1025 Laurel Blvd., he said. As of this time, the death does not appear to be suspicious, Sullivan said.
