Investigators Seek Link Between Party, Fatal July 4th Shooting On Jersey Shore Detectives seek the public's help from anyone who may have witnessed a fatal shooting that took place in Neptune Township last July 4. Neptune Township Police Department responded to a report of gunfire on July 4, 2022, just before 1:45 a.m. in the area of Route 35/South Concourse. Police found 26-year-old Ayres Gray Jr. of Manalapan in a parked vehicle on South Concourse, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Jersey Shore Man Killed In Weekend Shooting: Prosecutor A 39-year-old man from Monmouth County was killed in his vehicle this weekend, authorities said. The victim was identified as Marques Mills of Neptune Township, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey. Neptune police responded to the shooting shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 14.
