Pair Critically Hurt In Route 1 Central Jersey U-Turn Crash

A pair of passengers was critically hurt during a two-car crash on Route 1 in Edison, authorities said.

The crash occurred at 2:07 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26 near Wooding Avenue, the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office said.

One vehicle’s passengers sustained minor injuries, the other vehicle’s passengers were in critical condition and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

After an initial investigation, it was determined that the vehicle that caused the crash was driving northbound on Route 1 when he attempted to make a U-turn at the median break for Wooding Avenue, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Route 1, the prosecutor said.

The investigation is active and continuing.
