Her grandfather, 86-year-old Hal Sitt, of Deal, recently avoided prison in a plea deal after admitting to sexually abusing his granddaughter for nearly 11 years. A Daily Voice story about his sentence can be found by clicking here.

The granddaughter organized the GoFundMe and wrote, "My name is Joyce Sitt. For many years as a child I was abused by my grandfather. I was silenced, I was shamed, and I suffered in silence. After years I came forward ... I am trying to rebuild my life, again. The extreme stress of finances on top of the emotional and mental health load is too much for me to do alone. I am starting at square one. So I ask if you can help me rebuild my life so that I can continue to focus on being a stronger, healthier person."

After enduring years of sexual abuse, attempting suicide, and losing custody of her three children, Joyce desperately hopes to rebuild her life and start over.

"My night terrors still feel like they will never stop," Sitt writes. "My flashbacks still feel like I’m there. Smells, voices, words, items, cars, reminders all around me. I can’t move on. I suffer everyday."

More than 450 donors have contributed $51,000 in just a few days.
