Weekend system maintenance at Bank of America -- the bank used by New Jersey to process direct-deposit payments -- likely caused the issue, the state's Office of Information Technology (OIT) said Monday.

A senior bank official told NorthJersey.com they are working to process the payments quickly.

An unprecedented 1.2 million New Jerseyans filed for unemployment since the onset of the COVID-19 emergency began.
