South Jersey Man Gets Life In Prison For Atlantic City Teen's Slaying
A Pleasantville man will likely spend the rest of his life in prison for killing an Atlantic City teen almost four years ago, authorities said.
Lewis Johnson, 35, was sentenced on Tuesday, Feb. 6 to life in prison, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced on Wednesday, Feb. 7. He must serve at least 63 3/4 years before he's eligible for parole under the No Early Release Act.

A 41-year-old ex-convict from Absecon has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a Pleasantville man, authorities said.
Jerome Holley was charged on Friday, Dec. 1 with the murder of Mamadou Toure, 45, of Pleasantville, that occurred in October in Pleasantville, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Holley was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, second-degree possession of a handgun without a permit to carry, and second-degree certain persons not to possess firearms, the prosecutor said.

Friends, Family Mourn Loss Of 2 Women Killed In Head-On Burlington County Crash
Family members are raising money for a victim of a head-on crash that killed two drivers earlier this month in Burlington County.
Maureen Hanna, 22, of Pleasantville, and Latoya Sotomayor, 36, of Egg Harbor Township, both died in the crash on Nov. 1 on Route 563 in Washington Township, as previously reported by Daily Voice.
Melinda Rosa started a GoFundMe campaign to pay for funeral expenses for her niece, Maureen Hanna.

A convicted sex offender has been arrested and charged with multiple new sex offenses against seven minors, authorities said.
Jose Castro-Vega, 58, of Pleasantville, has been charged with multiple counts of aggravated sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, endangering the welfare of a child, and failing to register as a sex offender, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Castro-Vega was arrested without incident on Friday, Oct. 27, and was processed and lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

2 Drivers Killed In Head-On Crash In South Jersey
Two drivers were killed in a head-on crash in Burlington County, authorities said.
A northbound Jeep Grand Cherokee and a southbound Acura collided on Route 563 near milepost 30 at about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1 in Washington Township, said Trooper Troy McNair, a New Jersey State Police spokesman.
Both the Jeep's driver, Maureen Hanna, 22, of Pleasantville, and the driver of the Acura, Latoya Sotomayor, 36, of Egg Harbor Township, suffered fatal injuries, McNair said.
The crash remains under investigation.

Six people were arrested on drug charges, responding to complaints from the public, authorities said.
On Thursday, Oct. 12, detectives of the Special Investigations Section and the DEA Liberty Mid-Atlantic High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area conducted a street operation throughout Atlantic City.

Mamadou Toure, of Pleasantville, was killed in the shooting, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
On Monday, Oct. 9, 2023, at approximately 8:40 a.m., a shooting occurred at West Pleasant Avenue and Main Street, the prosecutor said.

On Monday, July 31, at 6:14 p.m., Officer John Bell allegedly saw Koron Still and two other men, Alim Tisdale and Melvin Young, in the 500 block of South Carolina Avenue, Atlantic City police said.
